  • The 44th Annual Flickertail Woodcraving Show will take place on October 13 & 14, 2012. The theme for this show is fish. The annual show will be at the Doublewood Inn, Bismarck.

    The featured woodcarver will be Bob Guge. Bob has been a frequent winner at the Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving competition in Ocean City, Maryland. Prior to the show, Oct. 10-14, Bob will teach a class on woodcarving a Kestral (about ¾ size). The class will cover all aspects of carving from the roughing out to the final texturing of the block. All steps in preparation for painting will be discussed and completed. Each student will be provided with a resin cast Kestrel to use as a model. Resin casts may be purchased. Cost of the class to be determined.

    Clark Schreibeis, Billings, MT, will conduct a workshop on painting a brown trout and habitat on April 13-15, 2012. The brown trout is to be carved before this workshop. Bob Pedigo will conduct a two-day class in carving the brown trout on January 14 & 28, 2012. Contact Bob for more information. Clark is recognized nationally as excellent fish carver. He has won the World Fish Carving Competition several times. Note, most of the painting will be done with an airbrush. Cost of the class is $50 for club members and $75 for people that are not Flickertail Woodcarving Club members.

  • A collection of Santas carved by the Flickertail Woodcarvers is currently on display at the Bismarck Public Library. The display will remain in place until mid-January. Click here to view the video : http://www.bismarck.org/index.aspx?nid=520

  • In the spring the North Dakota Songbird exhibit will go from the Buffalo Museum to Medora, ND. Will be display in the Harold Schafer Museum until the end of June. At the end of June the exhibit will go to the James Memorial Preservation Society in Williston, ND. At the end of July it will return to Medora. During July the club will display shorebirds in Medora.

  • The Flickertail Woodcarving Club is excited to announce the scheduling of several woodcarving classes for 2010. All of the classes are partially financed with grants from the Dakota West Arts Council and North Dakota Council on Art. Contact Frank Koch at fkoch@bis.midco.net or 701-426-9922.
